Straight and to the point: As lone individual, you have to put in the hard endeavors for anything to work out in your own favor. Yep, surprise! Things don’t just magically fall perfectly into place without the proper effort. Now, this is where things can get unseemly, but stay with me. No matter what you believe in, whether it is God, Buddha, The Universe, maybe nothing at all, that still does not dismiss you working your heart out for it. Here’s the thing, in order for whatever you believe in to help you and guide you, you must take responsibility for following your goals through on your own work. You can’t just flutter your eyelashes and ask nicely while sitting back with your feet kicked up. With all positive results, there must be POSITIVE ACTIONS taken. “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:8 See a trend here? Repeat after me, Actions equal results. This applies to everyone, no matter their beliefs! Now, this isn’t about how hard we have to work for that new car, that new house or that new toy. This is about things we want to change and shape within ourselves. What I am saying is, in some way, shape or form, we have to invest in ourselves to make what we want, happen. We have to take responsibility for wanting to make changes within ourselves. Personally, I have been blessed with some very wise people and mentors in my life (S/O to Kevin), that have helped guide me tremendously, but it was always up to me if I put in the effort to make that change. We don’t just wake up one day and have all the patience in the world to not flip off the idiot who cut us off going 75 on the highway. It takes… you guessed it, POSITIVE ACTION, and a little bit of patience of course. Any of my Texan drivers should understand that situation. The good things that happen to us, are the results of taking
action. Call it karma if you’d like, but we all know this
“hard working” stuff doesn’t just happen on its own.
We can’t be certain in the fact that _____ is going to happen,
we must invest in the process to make it favorable, and to make it worthwhile. Certainty can lead to being stagnant and becoming too comfortable in our “comfort zones.” Like Mark Manson says in my favorite book, “Certainty is the enemy of growth.” Be proud of yourself. Be proud of the journey. Be proud of the change. Be proud of breaking the comfortable mold of certainty. Be proud of being a face that discounts the status quo. Be proud of pushing yourself to take action for the change you want to see. Be proud of the past, and most importantly be proud of the changes you are able to make in the future.
